Life these past 18-20 months has been rough…for every.one. The looking from side to side—are you “wearing” or are you “doing” or are you “getting”, to closing ourselves out or staying away.  It’s been absolutely crazy! The unkindnesses and the divisions that have been created surpasses anything I’ve ever experienced.  The fear of sicknesses or of colds or even allergies has driven people to hate and shy away from doing things or being with family! Yes, this has been months of getting lost in the fog of horizontal views.  I admit it, I get lost there as well!  It can be so consuming….and, sometimes, I let myself be overwhelmed with the “what ifs” and “if onlys” of the day to day.

In general, we are a “forgetting” people. We forget God.  We forget His goodness and His faithfulness.  We plain just forget.  The Israelites did too, that’s why they built altars in the wilderness…to remember and to pass on the remembering to their children.  Believers, we need to be a more remembering generation in this era of fear! Remembering exactly WHO has power over all things.

Paul, in Colossians 3:2, knew that we needed to remember and, in that “remembering”, we need to look…and SET….our minds (hearts, thinking, eyes) above! Early Christians, as well, went through persecution and suffering and Paul encouraged them to LOOK UP! WE are to SET….We have this responsibility to SET our thinking on the “aboveness” that is before us!  He has it handled, He handled it thousands of years ago…on a hill…on a cross…for the sake of love.

Believer, is your mind “set” above, or on the here and now and the temporary? May I ask you to check yourself and your thoughts? May I encourage you to remember that, even as we go through dark valleys, He is with us and will guide us Home in our journey.  For any of my friends who aren’t sure of their spiritual situation, look to Him, the Son of God, Jesus…Look ABOVE to the creator of all things…and find rest.

Just a 60 something woman who has random thoughts and hopefully some wisdom to share. Having a 55 year plus journey as a follower of Christ, I’ve learned a lot along the way and if you are interested, I would like to share some of the do’s and don’ts I’ve experienced. Grab a cup of coffee or tea, sit down, relax and let’s have a visit.

  1. Thank you so much. This is such a good reminder. I have gotten caught up in it too. I especially liked what you said about the Israelites setting up altars to remind them and to teach their children. We so desperately need to pass on faith to our children right now!
