Well, hello there! It’s been a while since I’ve written anything, but I saw that my HopeWriter’s group was having an InstaGram challenge, so I thought ”what better way to get back to it!” I’ve missed my Random Thoughts and Ramblings and, hopefully, you might have as well.

The prompt word for today in this challenge is “Support”.

Having a daughter in missions, this term “support” has a specific meaning.  Usually it means that she is asking for financial support so that she is able to do a work that her sending mission has given her to accomplish.  She travels around to churches here in the US, sharing her heart and her desire for people in a land that has not heard the Gospel and asks for those who are able, to support her financially, and those who are unable, to support her with prayer…both being a great need for those who are led to this kind of work.

Most of us, are not in that type of work, but none the less, we, too, are in need of “support”. Scripture is clear on that in the giving of all the “one another” verses in the Bible.  We are told to “encourage one another”, to “love one another”, to “honor one another”, to “bear with one another”, to “be patient with one another”, to “pray for one another” and more.  It seems like the Bible truly knows what it means to support each other! Sadly, I fall short of these one another’s so many times, but there again, it is Scripture showing us our shortcomings and our need for Christ!

Yet, even when I think I’ve “done it right”, I still fall short! As well as when I am the one in need of support. My expectations of what I need from others often lead to frustration and disappointment and feeling “unsupported”.

What I have come to realize in thinking about this word, is that God knew we needed a supporter/encourager/comforter to make it through in this world! He gave us His Spirit to be there for us!  Those of us who have received the gift of Salvation through the Son have been given His Spirit to lead, comfort and encourage us in our walk.  Yes, we are part of a family that should be our greatest earthly supporters, the church…but, God in His goodness knew we are weak and fall short, so He sent His Holy Spirit to help us in our weaknesses!  Praise be to God for knowing and creating us as dependent people who need God, first and foremost, and alsoneed each other!

“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 ESV

Just a 60 something woman who has random thoughts and hopefully some wisdom to share. Having a 55 year plus journey as a follower of Christ, I’ve learned a lot along the way and if you are interested, I would like to share some of the do’s and don’ts I’ve experienced. Grab a cup of coffee or tea, sit down, relax and let’s have a visit.
