Routine

ROUTINE

The prompt word for today is Routine.  As I thought about this word, I almost wanted to skip today’s challenge.  I have felt like this is an elusive idea in my life…routine.  Finding a routine is difficult for me, at least that’s what I always think. I’m continually struggling to find that “right” routine that fits my schedule.  As I was going through my morning routine (lol), I came to realize that I do have many routines in my day to day!  It’s not as elusive as I thought. I have a morning routine, a make-up routine, a hair routine, a dusting and sweeping routine…I have a dinner routine, an evening routine, and a teaching routine.  Routines are good! They give direction for the activity. They help to motivate and encourage.  Too often, though, I’ve looked at routine as a slave master and not as a friend.  That was my “light bulb moment” this morning!  I am often frustrated that I can’t stick to a routine, but never have thought about those routines that I DO stick with! Granted, I could certainly apply more routine, but I need to change my perspective on this thing called a “routine”!  The routine should not force me to conform to it, but I conform my routine to me! What a refreshing idea! And, as I enter this next season of my life (retirement), I certainly will be looking at this word and the function of it differently.  It is here to serve me and not there for me to serve!

Well, just some “random thoughts” on this word and I hope that you, too, might change your perspective and free yourself from the bondage of “finding a routine”…instead create your own routine!

Just a 60 something woman who has random thoughts and hopefully some wisdom to share. Having a 55 year plus journey as a follower of Christ, I’ve learned a lot along the way and if you are interested, I would like to share some of the do’s and don’ts I’ve experienced. Grab a cup of coffee or tea, sit down, relax and let’s have a visit.
