ONCE (upon a time)
The Five Minute Friday word this week is “once”.
The familiar phrase that begins all fairytales is, “Once upon a time”, and that is where my thoughts led this Five Minute Friday, not to familiar fairytales I’ve read, but to those “once’s” that have happened in my life, memories that come back in flashes and frozen moments of time…
Once there was a young girl, who loved and cuddled her kitten….telling it all her secrets and dreams.
Once there was a young lady, who escaped to her room…a place of quiet and sometimes tears.
Once there was a young woman, preparing and packing to start a new season of life—marriage.
Once there was a wife, so in love with her one and only husband, but learning to live through their differences.
Once there was a new mom, trying to figure out how to care for and grow helpless babes.
Once there was a mother of four, trying to herd them like cats to become decent human beings. (I think I succeeded … they are all wonderful! 🙂 )
Once there was a grand daughter standing by as a dear loved one passed from this life to the next.
Once there was a woman who faced health scares and found strength in walking through.
Once there was a mom catching her breath as her babies followed dreams and journeys of their own.
Once there was an older woman becoming a “Mimi” and experiencing so much joy in precious grand babies.
There have been so many “once’s” in my life, these are just a few…so many joys and sorrows, excitements and fears. I’m sure I will experience more “once’s” in my future, but these are some of the things I “flash back” on when I saw the word “once”.
My final “once” will most definitely come at the end of this time here on earth because according to Hebrews 9:27, “It is appointed for men once to die…”, but my Faith holds strong because, Romans 6:10, “The death he died, he died to sin once for all…”. My hope is in Christ’s “once”, and of all of my “once’s”, my one time surrendering to Him will carry me through that last journey…
How many “once’s” come to your mind today? The only most important “once” is the coming to Christ in surrender to Him! Christ died ONCE for all…my prayer is that you are a partaker in His ONCE…His death and resurrection. May your journey of “once’s” bring you joy and peace.
