MUSIC

Have you ever taken a moment and wondered about the gift of music God has blessed us with? When you think about it, it is amazing that we are able to enjoy and create music! All types of music! God has so richly blessed us with talented people and creative minds. This past week the United States celebrated Independence Day and I was privileged to see an orchestra play many songs of tribute to that day and my country. It was moving to stand and sing The Star-Spangled Banner with a multitude of others and to also stand in recognition of those who serve or served in the military. Music can unify people of different backgrounds and it can cause emotions to sway!

Music is used in movies to move you to tears, cover your eyes in fear, or laugh! All the emotions God created in us can be brought out by a memorable song, or a reflective tune. Music will return you to your childhood, your first dance, or your last goodbye. It can carry your soul heavenward, or it can bring in the darkest of clouds. Music…God’s amazing gift!

The best music, by far, will be when we are all standing in eternity praising our Lord! No one knows when that will be, so a little bit of heaven on earth is experienced every Sunday as we stand with our brothers and sisters in Christ singing our praises to Him! What a joy and a privilege to worship our God and our Savior with those around us…it is just a small and imperfect glimpse into what is yet to come! The music will be perfect, and our singing will be flawless! Oh, what a day that will be!

Until then, let’s remember Psalm 95:1, “Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.” May you be encouraged today to sing praises and to look to Him who has given us this blessing of music!

Just a 60 something woman who has random thoughts and hopefully some wisdom to share. Having a 55 year plus journey as a follower of Christ, I’ve learned a lot along the way and if you are interested, I would like to share some of the do’s and don’ts I’ve experienced. Grab a cup of coffee or tea, sit down, relax and let’s have a visit.
